Victory by Defeat

The passage above are the words spoken by the prophet Jeremiah to King Zedekiah asking him to submit to the authority of Babylonians due to Israel’s recalcitrance. This is how I usually feel when I speak God’s truth.  It’s not a comfortable position to be.  To ask for your surrender to God’s will by obeying Him.  Still, the Bible is replete with surrender after surrender in submission to God.  From Joseph, a victim of flagrant injustice, locked away forgotten in a dingy cell.  David, hunted down by Saul’s elite guard.  Running away like a rabbit hiding in caves and even he had the chanced and justification to end Saul’s life he refuse to do it because God didn’t command him to. Finally, there it was the crucifixion of God’s only Son.  Hanging on the cross, defeated by the Roman empire, the principalities and the rulers of darkness and spiritual wickedness in high places (Ephesians 6:12).  Blood, sweat and tears.  Gasping for breath like a goldfish pluck out of its bowl.    In spite of the hurt, the darkness that engulf them, those feeling of being forsaken, doors slamming on your face and windows closing just when you’re hands had a grasp on them.  They’ve learned to trust and obey. Imagine the bewildered face of the one who comes to steal, seek and destroy (John 10:10).  His jaw dropped.  Scratching his head.  He thought he’d won, “Victory at last,”  he says.  It […]

Delayed and Annoyed

A lot of people are traveling to take advantage of the summer as it comes to its end.  Whether by train, driving, or flying nothing is annoying than hearing the news that your flight is delayed, more so when you get the message at the last-minute.  That is exactly what happened to us a few days ago.  We were driving […]

Burned Once. Burn Twice?

This past week I was bombarded with friends and co-workers trying to hook me up with a lady that recently started at my work.  “Why don’t you go out with her, she’s single.   We just want you to be happy.”  Then the teasing follows, “Oh you look good together.”  To make it even more interesting, this lady that they’re trying […]

I’m Divorce So I’m Hopeless and Unhappy?

Ever since I got divorce I’ve always been ask if I already found a girlfriend.  Both off and on work even on social media. Sometimes I get tired of hearing it and I do understand what my friends and family are doing for me and I appreciate that they care about my happiness. For those who is going through divorce and just got divorce.  There’s hope for you.  I don’t have a magic pill that I could give you to take the pain away.  Neither a time machine for you to go back in time so that you could change things.  Nor a helmet you could put on your head so that you could wipe those memories that are too painful to bear.  What I do have is my own experience and by sharing it, I hope that it would encourage you because I’ve been there too. Take your time grieving, do not rush it.  Never ever get into relationships – not until you’re fully healed and if you insist, I’ll tell you this it’ll be your first biggest mistake. What you’re doing is finding someone to fill that void and emptiness which makes you very vulnerable and some people will take advantage of that leaving you hurt again. If you have to cry, cry your heart out, it applies to men as well, there’s no shame to that.  It proves that your human as everyone else.  Do not rush […]

Fight Your Way Out

Like most individual I tend to run away from my problems.  Instead of facing them, making excuses in my mind hoping that they’ll magically disappear or fix themselves.  Postponing every chance I get, but it still there, not going away and the more I prolong ignoring it the more it becomes worse.  Imagine a windshield wiper that is  starting to worn out , that squeaky annoying noise.  Then you wait until it’s totally worn out.  You check the weather that day, sunny and clear skies. Out of nowhere a thunderstorm is brewing. The rain is so heavy that you could barely see the road.  You realize you should’ve have change your wipers sooner, now you can’t see, you slow down, hoping and praying that you won’t get into a wreck. Weathers are unpredictable so is life.  It is full of surprises.  Today you’re up, later you’re down. Everything’s going well in your relationship, suddenly out of nowhere your love one wants to break up with you, on a text message!  Nothing is certain.  Trouble has always been brewing ever since the creation.  It doesn’t discriminate, it could care less how old you are or what status in life you are in.  Even the righteous individuals in the Bible have more than their fair share. Talking about fairness, and yet they pulled through it due to the fact that they have that power of choice. When we are beat down, we […]

Freely Give

Once in a while I had meet a few people and on these conversations my blog has been brought up.  For some reason, I’ve always been asked if I’m making money of it. It’s always the first or second question.  “Maybe in the future,” to which I replied.  It is nice to always have an extra source of income, it is even better if you do something for the love of it not for the monetary reason. It saddens me that this world mostly is about making money like that’s the whole reason for existence. There’s this race of accumulating things.  Yes, I was guilty of it too until that time I was broken and forsaken. I realized that life is way more than that. God never envisioned that kind of life for us. I am not saying making money is bad, it is the motivation behind it.  In fact, the Bible even says that the love of money is the root of all evil (1 Timothy 6:10).  Let’s break that down. It’s the love of money, the love of it not money itself.  It’s not only one evil, all evil. When you do things solely for money, you become obligated to it. We have been taught that material things give us happiness.  If that so then we would be satisfied with what we’ve got but the opposite happens.  We want more and more and more. How many people out […]

Falling Apart

A couple of weeks ago, the windshield washer on my car stop working.  Not a big deal but an inconvenience.  With the unpredictable weather  in Kansas, it could get annoying.  I came out with an idea to use a water bottle and poke holes on the cap and use that. I hate driving with a dusty windshield. The winds could […]

Faith or Fear?

For reference, read the book of Hebrews 11. Life is full of choices.  With choices comes consequences, both good and bad.  When we make life altering decisions two factors would be dominant to influence the choice we make.  By faith or out of fear.  I know the argument  that God influences people by fear.  If He is such a loving […]

Wilderness

I remember around this time last year when I called my cousin. There I was on the phone talking to him, broken, how I saw in front of me the devastation I felt that there’s no more hope in saving my marriage and my family. To make it worse the betrayal I felt. The fear that engulf me once I […]
